Happy Halloween everyone! It shall be a quiet day for me. Robert is working on the guest room. He has it painted. Now he will be laying the floors. Then we have the paint decision for the entry/living room/dining room where the French doors shall be. Who knew picking a green shade would turn out to be so hard? (more…)

My very soul needed some new blooms. So while at Lowes yesterday, I picked up a few. The pansies are so cheerful with their cute little etched faces. (more…)

“Charlie Ross, get down from that table and leave Mama’s pretty rocks alone.” He sneaks up from the wicker chairs on either side of this table. and gets him a rock and places it wherever he pleases around the yard. I find them, as they’re shiny and stand out. And put them back. (more…)

The Madness Continues

Where are you, Dr. Dagwood?

After that big dose of steroids yesterday, I flew about the house as if propelled from a cannon. Martha had nothing on me. I cleaned everything, cleaned it again with Clorox, went back and cleaned it again in case I’d missed a spot. I am beyond common paranoia. (more…)

A Method To Madness

I’ve decided there truly is a method to madness. And it’s something like what Abi is doing right now out in the yard. Scratching. You all gave me great advice, but nothing helped for long. So this morning around 5 a.m. I decided I would wait until the urgent care clinic opened and head over there. Day 8 of the poison ivy saga. (more…)

Walking around outside looking at plants distracts me from the seemingly ceaseless itching that seems to have consumed me. I try and remember what it was like before I was this mass of angry, red blisters turned into leather patches. I swear it’s spreading. It’s been a week now since I was exposed. (more…)

Cool Morning Temps And Fiery Skin

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

The morning temperatures in East Texas have been quite cool. But that’s all that’s cool for me. I bought a $40 concoction at the pharmacy yesterday that the pharmacist said was the best cure for poison ivy on the market. I hesitated. Forty dollars for a tube. And it said it would treat 15 areas that were about hand-size. I now have it in various places on my arms, chest, stomach, hips and legs. (more…)

Creating A Handy Coffee Bar

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Now some of you will remember that earlier in the year I posted something about this. But then when I changed from Typepad to WordPress, I switched all my previous posts and photos over to WordPress. But somehow they managed to erase the photos anyway. So I’m redoing that entry, but this time I’m starting out with selecting the piece of furniture and getting the bar set up. (more…)

Porgie seems perfectly healthy, more than 24 hours now since her release from the overflow tank. Which has us all rather perplexed, as I have a very contained aquarium. We can’t figure out how she got over there in the first place. But she is knocking every other fish aside when I feed them. I guess she didn’t get as much food in captivity as she’d have liked.
