Do you believe in Karma?
I do! Let me tell you why.
Do you remember my post about What to do about my Mom?
Well let’s recap. I’m censoring the names of those involved in this story. Let’s call the guy D.Bag and Mom well she’s Mom.
Anyway Mom met D.Bag and had him move in with her. He was supposedly this awesome guy who treated her really good. Anyhoo… D.Bag decides to rough my Mom up a little. I’m not going to go into details because it makes me sick. So Mom kicks D.Bag out.
Yesterday Mom calls me to chat, and tells me that D.Bag had been cutting some trees and apparently he fell and broke his back in 4 places. He is now paralyzed from the neck down. Now D.Bag will no longer be hitting anyone ever again.
Does it make me a bad person for thinking this was his Karma coming back to bite him in the butt? Should I feel bad for him after what he did to my Mom? I don’t know. All I know is I’m glad that he’s out of her life, and I pray that she can learn from her mistakes and change her life. I also pray that he can learn from his mistakes too.
Small Talk Six: It runs in the family
his weeks topic for Small Talk Six at MomDot is “6 ways you are like or unlike your mother”
One way we used to be alike was when I was in High-School we dressed the same. She would borrow my clothes and I would borrow hers. That was until I became taller then her. She’s only 4′11
We both have the same hand writing. You know I used to forge her signature all the time. Bad me!
She only wanted one kid. So I was an only child. Not me… After being that only child I didn’t want that for my kids and wanted to have a big family.
Another way we are unlike is my Mom is the “Woe is me type” I have to constantly remind her that there are good things in life. I guess she always sees the glass as half empty and I always see it as half full.
We look alike also. It’s crazy sometimes I look in the mirror and see her.
We also have the same laugh. I don’t always laugh like her but when I do David loves to point it out to me.
Things Remembered Charm Story Line
I recently had the chance to try out a bracelet and charm from the new Charm Story line from Things Remembered.
I picked the First Chapter Heart Charm Bracelet. I thought it would be a great starter piece to start my charm collection. I have always wanted a charm bracelet. But I’ve never gotten one no matter how many hints I have given.
I chose to engrave my heart charm with my husbands and I’s initials and then I had them put Forever on the back. Since our relationships was the real first chapter of our family I thought it would be perfect. I plan to order charms for each of the kids with their names and birth dates.
There were so many different charms I really had a hard time deciding what I wanted to put on my first charm bracelet. I think this could be a new Mother’s day tradition. To buy a new charm each year for mom. I know I would love it. My mom would too! She would especially love the photo charms to show off each of her adorable grand kids.
My Charm arrived in only a couple days after I ordered. It came in a little pouch. I had to put it on immediately. My wrists are tiny so it was a little big but I was able to pull it through another link on the chain and it fit perfectly.
The engraving was exactly what I wanted. It’s beautiful. I’ve been wearing it constantly. So if you are looking for a Mother’s Day gift…which is right around the corner.
Check out Things Remembered. I’m a Mom and I love mine.
Saltwater Aquarium
This is my saltwater aquarium. It is a 90 gallon tank. A couple of weeks ago we added this to our home, after having a much smaller one for over a year.
This is our newest addition, Sunny, a Tang. He is quite beautiful and sociable. Read the rest of this entry »
About
I am an Oklahoma girl who moved to Texas as an adult. I have lived in various parts of the state, but now call my home East Texas. I enjoy gardening, decorating, crafting, spending time with my pets, blogging and keeping up with friends online. I have become somewhat of a saltwater fish aquarium enthusiast this past year. I also have two fish, Spot and Survivor, in the garden pond. I have two Yorkies, named Abigail Rose and Charlie Ross. There are also two cats in the mix; a Maine Coon cat that we found in a dumpster named Clyde. And then there’s Bonnie who hails from a used car lot. I am also a Meals On Wheels volunteer in my community. Read the rest of this entry »
What I’ve Been Up To
Posted by: Brenda Kula | July 1, 2009
For those of you wondering if I’ve fallen off the face of the earth, no I haven’t. But some of you may recall my fall backwards over some piles of deck lumber nearly five weeks ago. Well, the injury to my left foot has continued to keep me out of the garden. So I haven’t posted much. Read the rest of this entry »
Unknown Tree Specimen
Posted by: Brenda Kula | June 24, 2009
I have a tree of some sort in this container that my neighbor gave to me. I don’t think it is a tree that normally grows in a yard. But one in a pot. In the house or not, I don’t know. Read the rest of this entry »
Sago Palms & More On The Deck
Posted by: Brenda Kula | June 18, 2009
Sago Palm fronds in the early morning sunlight above.
Robert has brought in some lattice to build something to hide all these meters on my neighbor’s wall and on mine across the way. Being on the corner, I have both stuck to my wall. He’s thinking of covering the brick except for the part of the meters the company readers have to get into. Maybe I could grow vines or have shelves on it. This is what I’m thinking will be my “designated” living room area of the deck. This is the side just outside the east French doors. Read the rest of this entry »
Adding To The Deck Thoughts
Posted by: Brenda Kula | June 16, 2009
Here is what Robert is working on now. Isn’t this adornment around the tree pretty? It will give the trees room to grow and a place for me to plant. Yes, Charlie Ross is sneaking a peak. Read the rest of this entry »
Basic Deck Floor Finished
Posted by: Brenda Kula | June 11, 2009
Well, here’s the basic shape of the deck. Not quite finished. Not stained. But your get the idea. There’s Abi with sand from the electrical saw on her whiskers. And Clyde in the background. Poor Clyde has been being taunted of late by a group of mockingbirds. They better not hurt my handsome boy! Read the rest of this entry »
